2. Programme Synopsis:
Co-organised by the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR (ECCIL EuroCham Laos), our partner the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk and our member Tilleke & Gibbins, this seminar will look at the intellectual property landscape in Lao PDR and assess the best course of action for European companies on this market. With the advent of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, bringing with it the free movement of goods, services, investment, skilled labor and capital, new challenges have arisen with regard to the protection of intellectual property assets.

This event aims to raise awareness among European, international, Lao entrepreneurs and SMEs on the value of intellectual property in today's economy, with a particular emphasis on risk mitigation strategies.

• A general introduction of the regulatory and legal framework of the intellectual property and trademark and any recent updates.
• A focus on how to register and to enforce the protection of trademark in Lao PDR's market.
• A focus on parallel imports issues.
• A focus on franchise and license agreement.
